Virtual Credit Card FAQs
1. Who qualifies to open a Virtual Card?
You need to have an active credit card with access to our Banking App.
2. Which devices/systems is the Virtual Card supported on?
The Virtual Card is supported on all major operating systems, including iOS and Android, and can be added to compatible digital wallets.
3. Can I block or cancel my Virtual Card?
Yes, you can block or delete your Virtual Card anytime from the Banking App if you suspect fraud or no longer need it.
4. If I have blocked my Virtual Card, will my account be blocked?
No, blocking your Virtual Card does not affect your primary account or physical cards.
5. Can I create a Virtual Card on any device?
No, you can only create a Virtual Card on a trusted device. A trusted device is one you regularly use to access your Banking App. You cannot create a Virtual Card on an untrusted device, such as a device you rarely use or a newly linked device being used to access the Banking App for the first time.
6. How can I check if my device is trusted?
Sign into your Banking App, select “more” on the bottom tab, navigate to device security and select “view all devices”. All your trusted devices will be listed. You can select one of the listed devices to view and toggle the settings to your preference.
7. Can a secondary cardholder create a Virtual Card?
Yes, Virtual Cards can be created by the primary and secondary account holder for Virtual Credit Card. However, for Virtual Debit Card it is only the primary account holder that can.
8. How do I enable digital wallet payments for my Virtual Card?
Once created, add your Virtual Card to your digital wallet through the Banking App or wallet app.
9. Can I add my Virtual Card on Scan to Pay?
Yes, the Virtual Card can be linked to supported QR payment platforms.
10. Where do I view all my active Virtual Cards?
Your active Virtual Cards are displayed in the "Cards" section under “Virtual cards” of the Banking App.
11. How can I view transaction history on my Standard Bank Virtual Card?
Access the "Transactions" tab within your Virtual Card details in the Banking App.
12. Where can I view my Virtual Card details on the Banking App?
Go to "Cards", select your Virtual Card, and view details such as card number, expiry date, and dynamic CVV.
13. Do I need to activate my Virtual Card after it has been created?

No, your Virtual Card is active immediately upon creation. You need to ensure that your card settings are set up to enable the types of transaction you want to allow on the card.

14. Do I need a PIN to make online purchases using my Virtual Card?
No, but you will need to authenticate transactions through 3D Secure or OTP as required.
15. When will I be required to input a PIN when transacting using my Virtual Card?
You might need to enter a PIN when completing a contactless transaction at terminals displaying the “contactless” symbol. The PIN for your Virtual Card is unique and can be found in your Banking App under the corresponding Virtual Card details.
16. If my physical card is reported as lost/stolen, will my Virtual Card(s) be blocked?
No, your Virtual Card remains active unless you specifically block it or request us to block/delete it.
17. How much can I spend on my Virtual Credit Card?
Your Virtual Credit Card spending limit is determined by the available balance in your linked account and the limit set up on your account.
18. Do I need to pre-fund my Virtual Credit Card before I can perform a transaction?
No, the Virtual  Credit Card directly accesses the funds in your linked account.
19. How do I report fraud on my Virtual Credit Card?
Use the Banking App to block the card immediately and contact the Fraud Department for further assistance.
20. Can I view pending transactions on my Virtual Credit Card from the Banking App?
Yes, pending transactions are displayed in the transaction history.
21. Will I get MyUpdates notifications for my Virtual Credit Card transactions?
Yes, you’ll receive notifications for all successful and declined transactions.
22. Will I be able to view my Virtual Credit Card transaction history on my statements?
Yes, all your transaction history will reflect on your funding account statement with a clear indication of the transactions that went through your Virtual Credit Card.
23. What happens when I do a credit card swap, upgrade, or downgrade?
Your Virtual Card linked to the credit card will be updated accordingly.
24. What happens when I upgrade my transactional account?
Your Virtual Card remains active and will link to the upgraded account seamlessly.
25. What is the extended mode period?
Extended mode refers to the period during which there will be limited functionalities you can use the Virtual Card even without regular updates. This period is usually between 00:00am and 3:00am.
26. What are the capabilities available to me when in extended mode?
You can still use your Virtual Card for transactions, but some features like dynamic CVV updates may be limited.
27. I made a purchase with my Virtual Card, and the item I received is not what I ordered/I have not received my goods. What should I do?
Dispute the transaction through the app by selecting the transaction in question and following the dispute resolution process.
28. Can I create a Virtual Card for my Evolve account?
No, Evolve account is not eligible for creating a Virtual Credit card.
29. Will transactions made with my Virtual Credit Card count towards lounge access eligibility?
Yes, all transactions made using your Virtual Credit Card will be included in your total spend and will count towards determining your eligibility for lounge access.
30. Can I use my Virtual Credit Card to enter the lounge?
No, you will need a physical plastic card to access the lounge, even if you qualify based on your spend.
